Mobilise IT is very serious about our company’s impact on the environment and commitment to helping build a cleaner future for our planet.
As our business grows, we want to make sure we minimize our impact on the Earth's climate. So we’re taking every step we can to implement innovative and responsible environmental practices across our company to reduce our carbon footprint, ensure efficient computing, responsible disposal of obsolete handle computing devices and help our employees be green.
Programs in place:
MobileMuster
"Mobile phones are not biodegradable"
MobileMuster is the official recycling program of the mobile phone industry. Initiated voluntarily by the Australian telecommunications industry in 1999, its overall aim is to prevent mobile phones ending up in landfill.
Over 90% of the plastics and metals in mobile phones, batteries and accessories can be recovered and used as raw materials to make new products such as stainless steel, plastic fence posts and jewellery.
Although everything in a mobile phone is solid-state (i.e. there are no moving parts or liquids that can be released in normal use) they do contain small amounts of potentially hazardous substances (e.g. cadmium, lead, brominated fire retardants) which, if not handled correctly
at the end of their lives, can harm the environment.
Green IT
Mobilise IT has currently undergone a Green IT investigating options on how to reduce our computing footprint across our entire business through Virtualisation, Cloud Computing and Task Resource Optimisation. This has led to the decommissioning of more than 4 large scale servers to a more energy efficient virtualised computing environment.
We have subsequently reduced our energy and computing footprint by a further 30% by deploying Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite negating the need for further Server hardware utilsiing Microsoft cloud computing technology.
